RADIUS

WALK-BEHIND SAND & BUNKER CLEANER

The Radius is Barber’s walk-behind sand sifter built for tight, detailed cleaning — golf-course bunkers, horse arenas, playgrounds, and private beachfronts. Its wheels sit at the center of the machine, so it pivots and corners where other sifters can’t. The vibrating screen pulls small debris from the sand while leaving a clean, even surface. The wheels are located in the center of the machine, making it ideal for tighter cornering and turning.

The Radius comes with two interchangeable mesh screens (3/16” and 3/8”), which increases its versatility and allows fine tuning of the cleaning process. The frame and cleaning components are Hot Dip Galvanized for superior corrosion resistance and protection in sand and saltwater environments. The Radius also has a Honda 5.5 HP gasoline engine which is reliable, quiet, and meets all current pollution standards and noise restrictions.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Radius is a self-propelled sand sifting machine designed for tight-turning applications. Its center-wheel drive allows the operator to pivot the machine within its own length — ideal for congested sandy areas with furniture, trees, play equipment, and other obstacles. Typically, we recommend the Sand Man 850 for most applications, though, due to ease of use. But many customers have found the Radius to be the most effective for golf bunker cleaning, where ultra-tight turns are a high priority.

The key difference is maneuverability. The Radius uses center-wheel steering for tighter turning than the Sand Man’s independent-brake system — better for highly congested spaces. However, the center-wheel design comes at the cost of more operator work to balance and maneuver. It also has a smaller 6.6-gallon hopper vs. the Sand Man’s 14 gallons and is slightly lighter at 475 lbs. So it’s better for spot-cleaning in tight areas, like for golf bunkers, vs more heavy-duty applications like full beach cleaning or higher-debris areas.

The Radius offers two interchangeable screens: 3/16 inch and 3/8 inch. The 3/16-inch screen captures fine debris including cigarette butts and small fragments; the 3/8-inch provides faster throughput for larger debris.

The Radius covers up to 30,000 square feet per hour. A typical pool-side sand area of 2,000–5,000 square feet can be fully cleaned in just a few minutes.

Like the Sand Man 850, the Radius is powered by a Honda 5.5HP engine — known for reliability in commercial outdoor power equipment applications.

The Radius is best for golf bunkers or extremely tight areas, like playgrounds. For larger sandy areas that require higher capacity or throughput, the Sand Man 850 is typically a better option.
